Chemex was established in 1985 to serve the £2.5 billion cleaning and hygiene market in a unique way via a network of franchised owner operators sharing a common goal to provide high quality products at excellent value for money with a standard of service unmatched in the industry.
Now 17 years later it has grown from humble beginnings as the 'One Stop Chemical Shop' in a single unit to bigger premises in Tamworth in Staffordshire as the better known 'Chemical Express' and more recently as a hundred strong UK network in the guise of Chemex International based in the heart of the Midlands in a custom built four and a half acre site.
We are one of the leading mobile distribution companies in Europe with International partners in six countries and as part of the hugely successful Victoria International Group are the third largest company of our type in Europe.
With ISO 9001-2000 accreditation and on site Environmental accreditation 14001 the Chemex product range has well over 150 established products and includes a number of blue chip companies amongst our 30,000 strong repeat order customer base - spanning just about every market sector imaginable.
Once we receive your form we will look at the information submitted and if there is a potential partnership we will either send you a more detailed questionnaire or invite you to the head office for an informal first meeting.
You will have the opportunity to see our organisation and meet our key personnel, in effect you will see us how we are, 'warts and all', we are fully aware that this is an important change and it is important that before you make that decision you get a feel for the whole operation.
There is no set agenda for this meeting, we would hope that you ask many questions to do with the history and success of ChemEx so that you can judge whether you see this as a good opportunity. In some cases preliminary advice is given for finance options to allow you to investigate the best option before a second meeting. Copies of the contract are sometimes issued at this stage along with some telephone numbers of franchisees to contact.
At the end of this first meeting we ask that you take your time to consider the business, and only when you are ready would we arrange a second meeting.
Step three
The second meeting usually covers the commercial details including discussions on available territories, financial implications and provide relevant information for your business plan.
You may also already have finance in place and are keen to proceed and will have spoken to some franchisees, you may have also taken legal advice with regards to the contract.
By the end of the second meeting we will have shared plenty of infomation and you will be asked to again go away to consider the next move. It is not unheard of that we will sign documentation at this stage however in the majority of cases this is in step four.
Step four
This is more often than not the third meeting whereby a final discussion on the area takes place.
Finance in place and if everyone is in agreement the documents will be signed and the administration team starts to prepare for your training course. Over the following weeks VAT numbers will be issued and relevant stationery is ordered as part of your franchise package.
Course details are sent out and the final step is just around the corner.
Step five
The induction training course starts, for a full week the classroom will be your home, as we pass on the years of experience to you in a simple but effective manner.
You will see and try out many products, seeing them not only in the classroom but at actual customers. Kitchens, nursing homes and car valetors will reinforce the quality of the products they purchase from our franchisees and you will see how and where to use them.
Sales training and the important administration side of the business is also covered during the week.
Your final step has taken you to the end of the induction week and the future is in your own hands, with our help you will take on the challenge to build your own business over the coming months and years.
